Lineage

I believe the lineage of yoga was passed down from teacher to teacher so we can use these tools to help us become better people, feel better in oursleves and take care of our communties. The practice helped in so many times when i was in a hole in my life and needed a lift. It was also great for the mundane times of my life when i needed to feel energised and centered. I use to work as a graphic designer, you know - long hours in front of a computer, always neck pain coming up etc etc..deadlines, stress etc..
I didnt really plan it but somehow i ended up being here teaching yoga. a lot. I also felt happier.

Becoming more empowered and learning how to bring your attention to the present moment can transform your life. The practice challenges you to have radical acceptance towards yourself and cultivate compassion for yourself and others. This is not an overnight journey. Happiness is our true birth right but attaining it is difficult if we constantly strive to rely on external conditions to bring us joy. These practices help you cultivate inner resilience and reveal to you that we all have ‘buddha nature’ or as others might say a sense of belonging in this world.

History

Through the ups and downs of life I was lucky enough to be prompted to go to an ashtanga class in the early days and you could say my journey of the practice began. Ive been practising yoga for nearly twenty years and teaching since 2007. Since that time its evolved like me i guess.

I studied Ashtanga and iyengar for a long time and now these days I practice and teach an informed-alignment yoga that can be accessible for all people. I have over 800 Hrs Yoga Teacher Training hours and a Yoga Alliance senior teacher. I have studied directly with a recognised, international tibetan buddhist teacher from the Kaygu Lineage.

The sacred lineage of yoga and meditation for me is my teachers - Michael Stone - I am indebted to him, Dave Curtis - my first yoga teacher trainer educator, Matzy Etrzy for her vast resource of knowledge and kindness, Andrea Lutz for her subtle mentoring, Tias Little for his incredible knowledge of the subtle body and how the body works on a deeper level , Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche, his brother Tsyonski Rinpoche and Gils Fronsdal from Insight Meditation in San Francisco. Many others who have influenced me in so many ways.

I have studied and practiced with Tibetan Buddhist teachers , Zen, Theravada in retreat settings and I have been practising meditation for the last eighteen years. Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche being my main teacher. I am a meditation teacher  and did my training with Tara Brach and Jack Kornfield. I was lucky enough to study with the Karuna Institute - core process psychotherapy course using buddhism. My own meditation practice has deeply influenced the way I teach yoga.

I recognize that sometimes due to individual bodies and various injuries I feel strongly that a yoga practice needs to be customized for each persons needs, in times of therapeutic healing. My love for yoga also extends to creating a happy, safe environment for students to practice and to be challenged - encouraging students to dedicate time and commit to their own yoga practise. I teach online and in person! - Join me on the mat!
